Jure Žabjek in Les Gets: Very Solid

Biggest race of the season and the best result of the season. Jure Žabjek season didn’t go as planned, but this week he again proved that he can be very fast. He came to Les Gets after winning the national race on Kope and continued in the fast manner. He was 43rd in the today’s finals, which is a very solid result in the super strong competition.

World champs in Les Gets was surly the most anticipated race of the season, the France is a global powerhouse in the sport, events are on high level and the fans are always great. The atmosphere on the downhill track was absolutely amazing, after triple French victory they turned to crazy. But in a positive way.

Jure Žabjek also did good on his final run, he was 3rd fastest at the time when he crossed the finish line. Jure was faster than many of the riders behind him and eventually finished the race in 43rd place. Not his best ever, but a good boost for the moral before the final round of the World Cup.

Jure Žabjek after the race: “I didn’t feel good in the first days in Les Gets. But after the long training session on Friday and couple modifications on the bike things turned for the better and I felt good on my bike. There were still some parts of the track that were wet this morning, which is why I went with some caution in my final run. I soon saw that I can let it go and I went fast from there on, but still solid and smooth, without any mistakes. I didn’t want to push it too far, I wanted a solid result that will help me make next step next week in Val di Sole. I can still finish the season with some good result.”

Jure was 58th in the qualifications on Thursday and was a safe finalist for the race on Saturday. Žak Gomilšček still didn’t found the right rhythm and has finished the race in the qualies.

There is no time to rest, the next race is behind the corner – World Cup finals in Val di Sole.
